200A Subpanel Installation — Temecula, CA
200A Subpanel Installation — Temecula, CA (Unincorporated Riverside County)
Project Overview
I'm looking for a licensed C-10 electrical contractor to install a 200A subpanel inside my attached garage. The goal is to move all branch circuits from the existing exterior meter/breaker/panel combo to a new interior panel, improving accessibility, safety, and setting the foundation for a future solar + battery storage system.
The home is located in unincorporated Temecula (Riverside County jurisdiction). All work must be permitted and inspected through the Riverside County Department of Building and Safety.
Scope of Work
New Subpanel Installation
Supply and install a new 200A (MLO) subpanel, 30–42 space, on the interior garage wall.
The new panel location is approximately 10 feet from the existing exterior panel, positioned closer to the main house.
200A Feeder Run
Run 200A-rated copper feeder conductors from the existing 200A main breaker, through the exterior wall, and along to the new subpanel location — roughly 10 feet of conduit and conductor.
Conduit method and routing to be determined by contractor based on site conditions.
Circuit Transfer
Transfer all existing branch circuits (approximately 17 circuits) from the exterior panel to the new interior subpanel.
Since the new panel is 10 feet closer to the house, existing circuit wiring should have sufficient slack to reach the new panel without extensions. Contractor to verify on-site.
Existing Panel Conversion
The exterior combo unit will remain in place as the meter base and main disconnect only. All branch circuits will be removed from it.
Code Compliance
Any AFCI/GFCI breaker upgrades required by current California Electrical Code to be included.
Neutral and ground bus bars properly separated in the new subpanel.
All work to meet current NEC/CEC requirements.
Note: There is an energy monitoring system (CT clamps) currently installed on the panel. I will remove and re-install it myself after the final inspection.
Future Solar Prep (Optional Add-On)
I am planning a solar inverter / battery / panel installation in the very near future and will need conduit run from the subpanel area to the planned equipment location on the exterior wall. If this is something you can include in the scope, I'd appreciate a line item for it. I can provide the solar system plans and equipment specs for reference.

What I'm Looking For in a Quote
I'd appreciate an all-inclusive quote (or a ballpark estimate if an exact quote requires a site visit) that covers:
All materials — panel, breakers, feeder conductors, conduit, fittings, connectors, etc.
Labor
Permit application and inspection coordination with Riverside County
Any required AFCI/GFCI breaker upgrades per current code
Optional: conduit run for future solar equipment
If you're unable to provide an exact quote without seeing the site first, a ballpark range based on this description would still be very helpful so I can compare and narrow down contractors before scheduling site visits.
